Kiss Them While They Sleep #1

I used to think that the greatest thing about giving one's heart to God- and perhaps the only reason- was for God to make it so pure, one would be able to give pure love to one's beloved.
But my certainty was premature.  As I became more mature, I realized that God, in all his mercy and compassion, had issued the commandment about loving Him with all one's heart for one particular reason: i.e. when love fractures and one's heart shatters, there is no pain to the lover because the heart belonged wholly to God in the first place. After the occidental love dissolves (as it usually does in human terms) God himself begins the intricate task of knitting the heart back together with his holy hands, as only he can. Afterwards, it's as if one's heart had never been shattered in the first place. What a relief!
